Training Program Helps Older Workers Find Jobs

Last month we held a webinar on the new SCSEP Final Rule and what it means for you. We answered a lot of questions, but we know there are a lot more out there! If you have a question about the Final Rule that you would like to have answered, please post it in the comments. (There will also be plenty of opportunities to ask questions at the SCSEP Business Meeting in November!)
In conjunction with the July 8 webinar on transition planning for participants who reach the individual durational limit, we have compiled a resource list of organizations that may be good homes for those who wish to continue with volunteer service.

Please note:
This is only a partial list of volunteer organizations! Contact local schools, libraries, and hospitals. Google volunteer opportunities for other organizations in your area. We do not endorse these programs, but this list may be a useful starting point as you explore transition options for participants. If you know other resources, please add them in the comments section!

As you know, a SCSEP Business Meeting is coming up in Fall 2010. To make this meeting as useful as possible for you, we'd like to hear your ideas! What are your suggestions for training topics? Are there particular trainers you would like to hear from? What would you like to accomplish at the meeting?

Please let us know your thoughts in the comments section!

We have completed a new training session on online tools that can assist SCSEP participants with assessments, IEPs, job search and resume writing!

"SCSEP: What's in Your Toolbox?" highlights ETA’s electronic tools – specifically O*NET and - as well as AARP's WorkSearch. These resources are useful for career assessments, occupational information, skills profiles, and resume tutorials.  Many customers can access and utilize self-service electronic tools to select and apply the appropriate tools for:
  • Job searches and resume preparation
  • Transferable skills analysis
  • Occupational profiles
